I was honoured to represent the Lee Spark Foundation at the 5th annual INFECT meeting in Stockholm at the beginning of December. It was fantastic to meet and work with such an excellent group of people, all working towards the same goal – “to advance our understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms, prognosis, and diagnosis of the multifactorial highly lethal necrotising soft tissue infections”.
Our input in this project is to provide a perspective from the patient-side, to provide insight as to how it feels for those of us that have suffered as a result of necrotising fasciitis.
This is the final annual meeting for INFECT, with the wrap-up and findings being shared next year. Exciting times ahead!
We’ll shortly be reaching out to other survivors and families of the bereaved, to conduct some research where you can provide your opinions on what treatment/aftercare you would like to see provided to others. Nobody knows better than all of us, so please help out with the survey.
Watch this space for the survey!
